Mjog reduce's the cost of missed appointments!

mjog_320x200In the NHS missed appointments currently account for 10% of all first appointments and 13% of follow up appointments. These missed appointments cost the NHS approximately £614 million a year and result in a significant loss in performance. Reasons vary why patients cannot make appointments and range from patients feeling better, having other commitments or as a recent survey found, 40% simply forget.

'MJog' (www.mjog.com), developed by Soft Option Technologies, is a fully automated text and email messaging service designed to reduce appointment 'no shows' and improve response rates of health or promotional campaigns. The unique MJog solution is designed to be used by GP Surgeries, Public and Private Hospitals, Clinics and even Hair & Beauty Salons, and offers a wide range of features including fully Automated Appointment Reminders, Text Back Replies, Health Campaign Manager and Patient Registration Service plus Instant Messaging.

The introduction of reminders via text, email and voice synthesis has reduced appointment 'no shows' by as much as 50%, and vastly increase response to health campaigns. When applied in the Health & Beauty sector, MJog has been proven to reduce 'no shows' by as much as 90% and can increase response rates from traditional promotional campaigns from 3% to 10%.

When the Mjog service is implemented, awareness packs are made available to patients to inform them of the problems caused by 'no shows' and the consequential waste of resources. The awareness packs instruct patients and customers how the system operates and encourages them to provide the necessary contact details.

The packs, including posters, registration and patient information cards, have all recently been redesigned by CBA Design & Marketing in a more eye-catching and consistent style. The packs, along with other display materials, have helped to make the Mjog system very successful. Trafford Healthcare NHS Trust have recently adopted the system and John Bain, Head of IM&T, said: 'Missed appointments were running at about 12%, which adds up to six weeks of appointments. If we can reduce that by just 2% it will save the NHS £30,000 a month.'

In the Health & Beauty sector the adoption of the Mjog service also realises impressive results. The David Popham Salon, based in Oxford, started sending out appointment reminders to customers 6 weeks after their last appointment using the Mjog system. The reminders had exceptional results with 54% of customers going on to book a further appointment at the salon.  With an average customer spend of £50 per appointment; this could generate the salon in excess of £61,000 a year in revenue.

Details of the innovative Mjog system can be found on their website at www.mjog.com.
