'Cool' new identity for Street Energy
Global warming is an issue that concerns everyone. By reducing our personal CO2 emissions, we can all play an important part in the fight against climate change – and save money on our energy bills too. One of the most obvious ways we can help is to ensure that our homes utilise energy efficiently by minimising heat loss and incorporating renewable energy sources such as solar power.
In an average home 25% of heat is lost through the roof and 35% through the walls. If a house is sufficiently insulated the economic and environmental benefits are huge:
- If every household in the UK installed cavity wall insulation, it would save around £700 million a year – or enough energy to heat 900,000 homes*.
- If everyone in the UK installed loft insulation up to 270mm thickness, the financial saving would pay the gas bills of around 770,000 families for a year. This would also save nearly 3 million tonnes of CO2 per year – the equivalent saving of taking nearly 1 million UK cars off the road*.
The financial benefits to householders are equally impressive as savings of around £180 each year can be made on heating bills for an average sized property.
One company that specialises in helping householders to conserve heat is Street Energy Limited. The company's range of energy efficiency services includes a variety of types of insulation and solar panels. The company has successfully completed over 50,000 domestic installations since 2002 and is a strong advocate for energy conservation measures.
To increase awareness of energy efficiency issues and the remedies that the company can provide, the company have recently undertaken a complete rebrand in order to project a strong contemporary identity. After a rigorous selection process, Cambridge-based design agency CBA Design & Marketing was chosen to undertake the work ahead of a number of other companies who were invited to tender for the project. 'CBA's track record in branding is exceptional,' commented Street Energy's MD, Nigel Street. 'We were also highly impressed with the company's pragmatic approach to marketing and expertise in online media,' he added.
The identity that CBA developed was deliberately simple and utilised colour and form to give a distinctive look. The icon was created to represent a house profile or plan and the colours used were selected to portray warmth and a 'street'. The new identity is in the process of being rolled out in a range of materials including a bespoke content managed website, new stationery, marketing literature, signage and a range of branded workwear.
'Street Energy is an ambitious company that aims to help people reduce their energy expenditure and cut carbon emissions at the same time,' commented Nigel Street. 'Armed with our 'cool' new identity and marketing materials we can now begin to spread the message to householders everywhere!'
